1. Agreement to Terms
Welcome to Lightly.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Lightly mobile application, website, APIs, and related services (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account, accessing, or using Lightly, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
In these Terms, “Lightly,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of Lightly.
2. Description of the Service
Lightly is an AI-powered reflection and emotional support app designed to help users express thoughts, track emotions, and receive personal insights based on their conversations.
The Service may include features such as:
- AI-powered chat support;
- emotional check-ins;
- mood and emotion tracking;
- mood calendar views;
- daily reflections;
- personalized summaries;
- emotional insights;
- long-term reflection patterns;
- optional account and subscription features.
Lightly is intended to support self-reflection and emotional awareness. It is not a medical, therapeutic, diagnostic, or emergency service.
3. Important Service Limitations
Lightly is not a substitute for professional care.
By using Lightly, you understand and agree that:
- Lightly does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- Lightly is not therapy.
- Lightly is not a crisis support service.
- Lightly is not a replacement for a licensed mental health professional.
- Lightly cannot assess emergencies.
- Lightly may not always understand your situation correctly.
- AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, inappropriate, or not suitable for your specific circumstances.
- You are responsible for your own decisions and actions.
If you are in danger, experiencing a crisis, thinking about harming yourself or others, or need urgent help, do not rely on Lightly. Contact emergency services, a crisis hotline, or a qualified professional immediately.
4. Assumption of Risk
You acknowledge and agree that your use of Lightly is at your own risk.
The Service is provided for informational, reflective, and supportive purposes only. Any content, messages, summaries, insights, emotional analyses, or suggestions generated by Lightly are not professional advice.
You understand and agree that:
- AI systems have limitations.
- Lightly may misunderstand your input.
- Lightly may generate responses that are not accurate or appropriate.
- Emotional insights may be incomplete or incorrect.
- You should not rely solely on Lightly for important personal, medical, psychological, legal, financial, or safety-related decisions.
- You are solely responsible for how you interpret and act on any content provided by the Service.
By using the Service, you voluntarily accept the risks associated with AI-generated emotional support and reflection tools.
5. Account Registration and Security
5.1 Account Creation
To use certain features of Lightly, you may need to create an account.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and to keep that information updated.
You may be able to create or access your account using authentication providers such as Apple, Google, or email login.
5.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- keeping your login credentials secure;
- all activity that occurs under your account;
- notifying us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
We are not responsible for losses caused by unauthorized access to your account if you failed to keep your account credentials secure.
5.3 Account Restrictions
You may not:
- share your account credentials with others;
- create accounts for abuse, spam, fraud, or circumvention;
- impersonate another person;
- use the Service if you are under the minimum age required by these Terms;
- use the Service if you are legally prohibited from doing so.
6. Age Requirement
Lightly is not intended for children under the age of 13.
By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority in your country or region, you may only use Lightly with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account or provided personal information, we may delete the account and related data.
7. Subscriptions and Payments
7.1 Paid Features
Lightly may offer free features, paid features, subscriptions, trials, or one-time purchases.
The available plans, features, prices, and billing periods may be shown in the app, on our website, or through the relevant app store.
7.2 Billing
If you purchase a subscription or paid feature, you agree to pay the applicable fees.
Depending on where you purchase, billing may be handled by Apple, Google, Stripe, RevenueCat, or another payment provider.
Your payment provider may apply its own terms, cancellation rules, refund rules, and billing policies.
7.3 Renewals
Subscriptions may automatically renew unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period.
You are responsible for managing and cancelling your subscription through the platform where you purchased it, such as your Apple App Store or Google Play account.
7.4 Cancellations
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation usually takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Deleting the app does not automatically cancel your subscription.
7.5 Refunds
Payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law or by the policies of the payment provider or app store through which you purchased the Service.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Lightly responsibly and lawfully.
You may not use the Service to:
- violate any applicable law or regulation;
- harass, threaten, abuse, or harm others;
- generate or share hateful, violent, exploitative, or illegal content;
- encourage self-harm, violence, or dangerous behavior;
- upload or share content that infringes someone else’s rights;
- attempt to access another user’s account or data;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service;
- reverse engineer, scrape, copy, or misuse the Service;
- use automated systems, bots, or scripts without permission;
- bypass usage limits, security systems, or access controls;
- use the Service to develop competing AI systems or datasets without permission.
We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you have violated these Terms or used the Service in a harmful or abusive way.
9. User Content
9.1 Your Content
You may submit, write, upload, or generate content through Lightly, including chat messages, emotional reflections, mood entries, and other personal information (“User Content”).
You retain ownership of your User Content.
9.2 License to Operate the Service
By using Lightly, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to process, store, transmit, display, and use your User Content only as necessary to:
- provide the Service;
- generate AI responses;
- create emotional insights and reflections;
- save your chat history and app data;
- maintain and improve the Service;
- troubleshoot bugs and technical issues;
- protect the safety and security of the Service;
- comply with legal obligations.
This license exists only for the purposes described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
9.3 Responsibility for Your Content
You are responsible for the content you submit to Lightly.
You agree not to submit content that:
- violates the rights of others;
- is illegal;
- contains harmful instructions;
- contains sensitive information you do not want processed by Lightly or its service providers;
- is intended to abuse, manipulate, or disrupt the Service.
10. Privacy
Your privacy matters to us.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use Lightly.
By using the Service, you agree that we may process your information as described in our Privacy Policy.
You should read the Privacy Policy carefully before using Lightly.
11. AI Processing and Generated Content
Lightly uses artificial intelligence to generate responses, summaries, emotion classifications, daily reflections, and insights.
You understand and agree that:
- AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate.
- AI-generated content may not reflect your actual emotional state.
- AI-generated insights should be treated as reflective prompts, not facts.
- Lightly does not guarantee that any response or insight will be correct or helpful.
- You should use your own judgment when interpreting AI-generated content.
We may use third-party AI providers to process your inputs and generate outputs. More details are provided in our Privacy Policy.
12. No Professional Advice
Lightly does not provide medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
Any content provided by Lightly is for general reflection and support only.
You should seek advice from a qualified professional before making decisions related to your health, mental health, safety, finances, legal matters, or other important life circumstances.
13. Crisis and Emergency Situations
Lightly is not designed for emergencies.
Do not use Lightly if you need immediate help.
If you are experiencing a crisis, thinking about harming yourself or someone else, or believe you may be in danger, you should immediately contact:
- local emergency services;
- a crisis hotline;
- a trusted person nearby;
- a licensed medical or mental health professional.
Lightly cannot guarantee that it will detect, understand, or respond appropriately to crisis situations.
14. Intellectual Property
14.1 Our Rights
The Service, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, features, functionality, and other materials, is owned by Lightly or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
14.2 Restrictions
You may not:
- copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service;
- reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code;
- use our name, logo, branding, or design without permission;
- create derivative works based on the Service;
- remove copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices.
15. Feedback
If you send us feedback, ideas, suggestions, or feature requests, you agree that we may use them without restriction or compensation to you.
This helps us improve Lightly, but it does not give you ownership rights in any changes we make based on your feedback.
16. Third-Party Services
Lightly may integrate with or rely on third-party services, such as authentication providers, cloud infrastructure providers, AI providers, payment processors, analytics tools, or app stores.
These third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for third-party services, websites, platforms, or content that we do not control.
17. Service Availability and Changes

We do not guarantee that Lightly will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
We may release updates, change features, add or remove functionality, introduce limits, or change how the Service works.
18. Termination
18.1 Termination by You
You may stop using Lightly at any time.
You may also request account deletion by contacting us or using any in-app account deletion feature if available.
18.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if:
- you violate these Terms;
- you misuse the Service;
- your use creates risk for us, other users, or third parties;
- we are required to do so by law;
- we discontinue the Service or parts of it.
18.3 Effect of Termination
After termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately.
Certain sections of these Terms will continue to apply, including sections about intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law, and dispute resolution.
19. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, and reliability.
We do not guarantee that:
- the Service will meet your expectations;
- the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free;
- AI-generated responses will be accurate or appropriate;
- insights will correctly reflect your emotional state;
- the Service will be secure from all possible threats;
- any defects will be corrected.
20. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Lightly and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, agents, service providers, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including damages for loss of profits, data, goodwill, emotional distress, or other intangible losses.
This applies to damages arising from:
- your use of or inability to use the Service;
- AI-generated content;
- reliance on any response, summary, or insight;
- unauthorized access to or use of your data;
- interruption or unavailability of the Service;
- third-party services;
- any conduct or content of any user or third party.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of:
- the amount you paid to Lightly in the six months before the claim arose; or
- USD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability. In those cases, some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
21. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Lightly, its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, agents, service providers, and licensors from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to:
- your use of the Service;
- your User Content;
- your violation of these Terms;
- your violation of any law or regulation;
- your violation of another person’s rights;
- your misuse of the Service.
22. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
If we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we may notify you through the app, by email, or by another appropriate method.
Your continued use of Lightly after the updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
23. Governing Law

25. App Store Terms
If you download Lightly through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or another app marketplace, additional terms from that marketplace may apply.
The app marketplace is not responsible for providing support for Lightly unless required by its own terms or applicable law.
You agree to comply with all applicable marketplace terms when using Lightly.
26. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain in effect.
The invalid or unenforceable part will be interpreted as closely as possible to the original intent, to the extent permitted by law.
27. No Waiver
If we do not enforce a provision of these Terms, this does not mean we waive our right to enforce it later.
Any waiver must be in writing to be effective.
28. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms that apply to specific features, form the entire agreement between you and Lightly regarding your use of the Service.
They replace any prior agreements or understandings about the Service.
